This classroom scene shows the importance
of our education with Maths, Geography, English, Spelling,
Art, Science, History and Information Technology all
featuring somewhere in the scene - and the bears are all in
on the act too!
The great part of the bible is that Jesus was called
'Rabbi' which means teacher. Jesus was taught as a child
and he became a teacher. We all need a good education but
it isn't the be-all and end all of life. Some people have
used their education in very horrible ways. Another
scripture says 'Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.' (Proverbs
22:6) Education takes a lifetime and we should always be
willing to learn.
In the details below you can see the various characters
studying hard. Amadeus the Honey Bear is doing math and it
is right up his street 'bee x bee + flowers = HONEY' you
know where his heart is! Baxter and Googles are in a
dictionary checking spelling, Pinky and Ashley are checking
fabrics among books, lots of books, Peter, Hannah and John
are all working hard and it is all overseen by Hooty who is
a very wise owl.
Below is the map from the actual oil painting. This is
oversize from the original oil to give you an idea of the
detail! People's reaction to the map both when seeing the
original and the print has been one of astonishment;
"I can't believe that is an oil painting"
"I didn't think
you could get that amount of detail using oils!"
"Absolutely stunning, it looks like a photograph!"
These are just a few of the many comments that have been
given about my work. I average about 1 square inch per hour
in the final detail rendering stages of the painting. The
map, which has considerably more detail than other areas of
the painting, took around 3 to 4 days to paint and the desk
the boys are working on took a solid 8 hour day!
